The apparatus (1) has an induction device (10) with a cladding tube (20) and an inductor (30) that is arranged within the cladding tube. A spreading device (2) is provided for spreading the slotted cladding tube longitudinally. The spreading device has an opening for passing the inductor, and guide grooves for receiving end regions of the slot of the cladding tube. The spreading device has a gripping device for pulling the spreading device. A combining device (5) is provided for fixedly connecting cladding tube along the slot faces of the cladding tube.
