Instantaneous Isochrons, Volume-flattening and aHigh Resolution View of Sedimentation Rate

The instantaneous isochron attribute is defined as the change in seismic time with respect to relativechronostratigraphic time. It can be computed by taking the derivative of a horizon volume used forvolumetric flattening. In an example fromAngola, the horizon volume is computed automatically with aglobal algorithm that picks every horizon in a 3D dataset. The instantaneous isochron attribute derivedfrom this provides a dramatic view of the geomorphology of a turbidite sequence.
