Unlimited sailing pleasure: Accessibility of waterborne transport

摘要

The paper examines that issue of accessibility to Waterbourne transport at the shorebased terminals and on the vessels, acknowledging the important role that it can play in the urban transport network and tourism offer of an area. It considerers the wide range of people who benefit from good accessibility and why the provision of fully accessible facilities is important to the success of the operation. It highlights the parallels between accessibility guidelines for bus and rail stations and interchanges and considers the issues specific to Waterborne Transport, particularly in boarding the ferry and on the vessel itself, giving examples of good practice.
