This paper presents an investigation of the self-induced collision hazard for a cartwheel InSAR system arising from two failure scenarios; loss of orbital control and the catastrophic break-up of one member of the micro-satellite group. Collision probabilities are determined using the well-established covariance method implemented in the Debris Analysis and Monitoring Architecture for the Geosynchronous Environment (DAMAGE) model. The collision probability, impact energy and the longevity of the hazard are estimated, and the security of the Master satellite and the controlled members of the formation are assessed.
