Autoimmune or toxic liver injury - a diagnostic dilema

Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), primarily a paediatric disease, may present as an acute, fulminant or subfulminant hepatitis. The aetiology is still unknown and, in some cases, the toxic liver injury may play a role. In children, idiosyncratic hepatotoxity is an infrequent but well-recognized complication of a variety of therapeutic agents. We present a case of cholestatic liver disease with probable toxic and immune-mediated injury.
