Ammonium dinitramide (ADN), which is one of the most promising oxidizers in propellants without chlorinated pollution to the atmosphere, has attracted a significant attention. Potassium sulfamate (PS) is one of key substancesthroughout the ADN synthesis as formingnitrates such as -N(NO2)2. In this work, potassium sulfamate as a starting material was prepared in a lab scale through crystallizationwith adding ethanol,methanol, acetone and isopropanol and their mixtures. The effects of PS on the ADN yield and purity were evaluated by IR, UV, XRD and TGA-DSC techniques. The lab-made PSs quite fitted to the commercial PS in its chemical structure. The PS with acetone and/or mixture of acetone and isopropanol, which was ground to 20 urn, showed the highest yield more than 48%. The purity obtained from the test PS also was better than a commercial product. It would closely be associated with crystallinity, porosity and pore size of sample PS.
