The innovative products produced by Rumber Materials,Inc.began its first stages in 1991 with two years of research and development.Primarily targeting the livestock industry the first boards produced was the 2"x 6"and 2"x 8"with a ridge down the middle.The boards were produced using 100%recycled materials with a 65%tire rubber and 35%plastics blending ratio,which is still used today.In processing the rubber and plastic blend through an extruder the plastic migrates to the surface of the board resulting in a smooth surface.The primary user was dissatisfied with the slick surface because of the problems with livestock slipping during transit.This put Rumber in a position with no other choice but to fix the problem.A resolution was found by putting a series of steel brushes used to brush the first layer off resulting in a traction surface.
