ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT AT UNET: A NEW PERSPECTIVE FOR ENGINEERING PROGRAMS

The Universidad Nacional Experimental del Táchira (UNET), in Venezuela, completed its curricular reform process. Results from this process demonstrated that UNET's graduates have competitive advantage over graduates of other national and international engineering programs, especially Industrial Engineering graduates. It seems that the difference strives on the emphasis of a curricular component aimed to develop competencies in the managerial area of engineering. This paper intended to study the dynamic of the specific variables that define this advantage and it was found that managerial and transversal axes as curricular components are shaping UNET's IE graduates acceptance and success in national and international industries.
