Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL), Raigarh, Chattisgarh, India, is operating a Heavy Media Coal Preparation Plant designed by The Daniels Co. The three-product preparation plant uses heavy media vessel to deshale 25 x 1mm raw coal. Deshaled coal is then rewashed in heavy media cyclones. Heavy media cyclone float product of 28.0 percent ash is used in sponge iron production and the sink material of 55-57 percent ash is used as fuel for power generation. JSPL is operating three 400 TPH plants, as described herein, to process 6.0 million tons of raw coal being produced at the mines.
