INSTATIONARY STATES IN THE HYDROCYCLONE

Instationary states play an important role in hydrocyclone control. Three different types of instationarities are described: 1. Instationarities of the separation effect due to fluctuating feed conditions. 2. Instationary underflow due to rapid changes between rope- and spray discharge. 3. Intensive shaking of the hydrocyclone under special resonance conditions. Instationary flow and discharge can be modelled using the turbulent diffusion model of hydrocyclone separation. The vibration behaviour is described by the vibration equation of the hydrocyclone.
