摘要

The paper presents the bases of technology for ice surveys and interpretation of field materials. By the example of morphometric observations, a set of direct and remote sensing measurements of ice cover parameters of different scale isconsidered. The statistical processing of data obtained by different methods allows us to construct combined distributions of sea ice morphometric characteristics. A technological arrangement for collection, analysis and interpretation of data on these characteristics is presented. The problem of acquisition of data on the dynamics of ice floes and icebergs is considered. The new methodology of investigating the ice strength properties is described. The ice cover of the Russian Arctic Seas is an important component of natural conditions. Construction and accident-free operation of offshore structures and communication lines, rational planning and cargo and transport operations, organization of nature protecting measures, etc. are impossible without taking it into account.
