We proposed and implemented a payroll system that is practical for small business in the meaning of simple architecture, economical development, user friendly graphical user interface and high portability and maintainability. We present the component-based system design and a top-down layered GUI architecture. The system is fully tested and installed on the client's server. Our development experience is an application of object modeling technique in business systems.
