A Unified Test Evaluation of Islanding Characteristics of PCS on the Market for Clustered PV Application

The operating characteristics of 6-type Power Conditioning Sub-systems (PCSs) for Photovoltaic Power Generation System (PV System) on the market in Japan have been tested and evaluated, to make clear the performances to detect the islanding phenomenon. As a result, there were no problems with respect to the basic characteristics on power quality and stable operation of most PCSs. However, regarding the safety, a part of PCS showed the islanding phenomena. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to PV site design in terms of the islanding protection.
