MODELLING OF SANDWICH BEAMS WITH COMPOSITE LAMINATED FACINGS AND COMPRESSIBLE ORTHOTROPIC CORE

摘要

Sandwich structures, consisting of a core covered by facings, are frequently used in marine, aviation and civil engineering applications because of their high bending stiffness-to-weight ratio. Many of the modern sandwich beams, panels and shells are made of composite laminated facings and a flexible core. The complexity of the stress-strain state has yielded a numerous number of sandwich structures models. Until recently, most of the models, that appear in the research reports are based on the incompressible core models [1-4]. The reliability of such models in case of soft core is dubious. Thus, at present, analyses of modern sandwich structures require the use of advanced computational models [5-8]. As this takes place, the beam model is a best suitable tool for an initial investigation of more elaborate sandwich models of the panels and shells. The computational model of sandwich beam with laminated facings and compressible orthotropic core is considered in the present paper.
