Choline has thus gained recent attention as a cardiac marker, particularly in patients with suspected acute coronary syndrome (ACS)6 In this study we compared the plasma choline concentration in neat human plasma in a cardiac troponin-I positive sample population with that of a normal blood donor population. The method employed was based on the enzymatic generation of hydrogen peroxide from choline using choline oxidase and followed by detection using a chemiluminescent acridinium-9-carboxamide.
