Generic Management Principles for Maximizing ICT Value?

The Australian Government has sponsored a substantial piece of research involving 1050 firms from 15 industry categories suggesting that the level of benefit achieved from an information and communications technology (ICT) investment is largely a function of effective management, and propose several generic management principles. The purpose of this paper is to draw the attention of the ECITE community to this report, present a summary, discussion and critical analysis of the findings in light of collective wisdom in this area of research. Discussion is focused firstly on the factors said to be necessary to maximum value realization, and what is new in the findings. Secondly and possibly more interesting, factors not found to be important in value maximization will be discussed.
