摘要

A new theoretical model for predicting crack tip dislocation emission, based on a local mechanical instability, is extended to predict crack tip twinning in fcc metals and alloys. The new model is used in the investigation of crack tip dislocation emission in random multi-component fcc alloys. It is shown that dislocation emission is easier in the random alloy, due to local environments that promote more ductile behavior.
