The metastable alloy comprises a matrix from metallic glasses, and crystals (40-45 vol.%) from a shape memory alloy, where the crystals have twin boundaries as nano-crystals and predominantly exist as nano-crystals with dimension of 5-100 nm or as microcrystals with dimension of 5-500 mu m. The matrix and the shape memory alloy consist of (Cu (47.5) Zr (47.5)), (Cu 47Zr 47Al 6) and Cu 45Zr 45Al 5Ag 5. The crystals are present either with dimension of 5-100 nm or with dimensions of 5-500 mu m at 75-95 vol.%. An independent claim is included for a method for producing a metastable alloy.
