摘要

This paper addresses on the problem of the growth of impact damage/delaminations in composite airframes. The focus of the paper is on the FAA slow growth approach to aircraft certification. It is shown that whilst significant progress has been made there are still a range of questions that need to be addressed and a need for test data that characterize the fatigue threshold and residual strength surfaces associated with impact damage/delamination damage.
