This report aims to formulate an interfacial J integral needed to evaluate the interfacial fracture toughness of a bi-material through an indentation test. To model the contact between a test piece and the tip of indenter, the contact load was modeled by point loads. The analytical solution of the interfacial J integral suite to our indentation problem was introduced based on a two-dimensional interfacial crack solution by reflecting a three-dimensional effect into the effective thickness. The validity of the J integral formula introduced here was confirmed in comparison to the numerical J integral evaluated by a three-dimensional finite element analysis.
