After multimedia, virtual reality technology became the representative technology of the 21st century. It is also the ultimate technology of multimedia. By introducing the application, realization method and 3D engine requirement of Virtual Environment Navigation, this article explains the research objective and significance of this system which is based on the 3D engine technology. The article also examines the important role that this system plays in the field of the architectural design, urban planning, tourism development, environment display, virtual space, 3D games and so on.
