A numerical experiment is performed, with the help of a truss model, on the nonlinear static analysis of a plate, with a central hole, subjected to uniaxial tension. Five values of gradually increasing hole length are considered. A mesh refinement in the region of hole is used. The critical hole length is detected in three ways: 1. By significant reduction of global strength and stiffness of a specimen. 2. By concentration of plastic yield in hole tip region at instant of failure. 3. By significant participation of hole extension to global deformation of a specimen.
