A CONTAM validation case study of a multi-floor office building used in the Joint Urban 2003 dispersion field trials

During the Joint Urban 2003 (JU2003) experimental trials, simultaneous external and internal tracer gas releases were undertaken. Time varying tracer gas concentrations were measured in a high rise commercial office building. A room-detailed CONTAM model was created based on available information. The sensitivity of the parameters affecting the exchange of indoor and outdoor air was examined. Leakage at the building envelope and the implications of applying wind tunnel derived pressure coefficient values or calculating surface pressures using wind field models are addressed. Model to data comparisons are presented and related to discussion of the importance of both available and missing information in model definition.
