Assessing the Role of UK Buildings on the Transmission of Tuberculosis

The London building stock is diverse, with a large number of different building types characterized by different levels of airtightness and ventilation behaviours, which could therefore act as a modifier of transmission risk for respiratory diseases such as TB. In this work, two databases were combined: a London-wide housing stock database held by UCL and records of TB cases in London held within Public Health England, both at individual-address level. The types and ages of domestic properties where TB transmission is likely to have occurred in London were examined.
