摘要

We previously have reported (1,2) that the amyloid found in association with human calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumors (CEOT), i.e., Pindborg tumors, was derived from a hitherto undescribed protein encoded by the now termed Odontogenic Ameloblast Associated Protein (ODAM) gene. Extracellular deposits also often are found in odontogenic tumors of animal origin (3,4), but the nature of this fibrillar protein had not been established chemically. We now report the results of our studies performed on the amyloid contained in tumors from 3 different mammals: domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris) and cat (Feline catus), as well as Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris tigris).
