Crucial to every moving target detection scheme that uses SAR data are suf?ciently balanced or calibrated channels. In practice, however, any physical sensors will differ slightly and hence, signi?cantly degrade GMTI performance. This paper proposes different techniques to overcome this de?ciency and demonstrates their capabilities using experimental airborne two-channel SAR data measured over Canada’s east coast in 2004. SAR images and ship parameter estimates are computed and benchmarked against GPS measurements taken aboard cooperating vessels.
