Adaptation of a State of the Art Computer Forensics Course

This project is a collaboration among seven post-secondary institutions to build educational capacity in the area of information assurance by adapting and implementing an exemplary computer forensics course that has been developed and offered at Purdue University. Specifically, the project proposes to adapt a computer forensic course (developed at Purdue University) for implementation at the other six participating institutions by establishing a state-of-art computer forensics laboratory and developing instructional materials essential for teaching the course in a transferable and reusable manner. Since the programs and the student bodies in these institutions are not exactly the same, the adaptation process in these institutions can provide different models with different emphasis. This will help the late large-scale dissemination at the national level. As computer forensics is a relatively new domain in the field of information assurance, there is a noticeable lack of resources and trained professionals. Another major outcome of this project is to generate quality educational materials in computer forensics that would be used among the seven participating institutions and disseminated in information assurance education programs at other colleges and universities throughout the nation.
