Advanced reprocessing and analysis of a grid of ~ 2000 km of digital, 2-D multifold seismic reflection data have defined the subsurface characteristics and regional span of known and new structural trends over the area surrounding the Weyburn reservoir. Structural contour maps based on ~ 1000 borehole logs and the seismic data indicate that complex fractures zones were active at variable times during the development of the region. Seismic profiles, in the close vicinity of the storage reservoir, (Risk Assessment Area) image a number of local fracture zones; nevertheless, the data indicate that these were not in contact with or influenced the overall structural setting of the reservoir.
