The scope of this paper is to evaluate the technical feasibility of CO _2 transportation and long-term geo-sequestration from two independent IGCC respectively located in the west and in the east of France. These two power plants are assumed to be equipped with the adequate CO_2 capture device for transportation purpose under pressure of 150 bar and temperature of 80 °C to keep CO_2 under supercritical state. The projected cumulative production from both sites is 10 Mt per year during 30 years. To geo-sequestrate these large CO_2 quantities, three scenarios have been investigated. The purpose of the first scenario is to geo-sequestrate the totality of the CO_2 produced by the two power plants in deep aquifer located in the North Sea (10 Mt/an during 30 years and 1400 t/h peak flow rate). The goal of the second scenario is to geo-sequestrate the totality of the CO_2 produced, in North Sea depleted hydrocarbon field (gas field or oil field). The aim of the third scenario is to geo-sequestrate the totality of the CO_2 produced in onshore deep aquifer or in the depleted hydrocarbon field (oil or gas) in France onshore. Each power generation station would have its own facility to sequestrate the produced CO_2 (5 Mt per year during 30 years with peak flow rate of 700 t/h). Seeking, identifying and selecting the offshore and onshore storage sites for CO_2 geo-sequestration purpose have been led respectively on the zones of the North Sea (figure 1), to the south of the Norwegian pit (figure 2) and on the whole French territory.
