The hybrid quad-redundant Electro-Mechanical Actuator System(EMAS) is coupled of two brushless DC motors with dual-windings, which will be used on the next generate More-Electric Aircraft.(MEA) The system has the outstanding fault tolerant operating capability, i.e. the two channels failure is allowed for the electrical channel and one channel failure is allowed for the mechanical channel. There are fault tolerant operation in the system, so the fault diagnosis, fault location for the system are the key techniques of the system control. This paper analysis the fault causations and fault behaviors of the system, including the power devices fault, the armature windings open-circuit and the short-circuit between the windings. According to the characteristic of fault DC line current signals, the modulus maximum through wavelet transform is extracted, thereby the detection of the fault signals and finds the fault position on the sample are realized. The simulation results show that the fault detection method is feasible.
