The Yangtze Gorges, or the "Three Gorges" as they are usually known in China, consist of the Qutang Gorge, the Wu Gorge and the Xiling Gorge. They have a distribution from Baidicheng in eastern Chongqing to Nanjinguan, Yichang County, in western Hubei, together measuring 192 km along the lowest upper reaches of the Yangtze River. All the Three Gorges are magnificent and beautiful, showing marvelous scenery of high mountain cliffs and deep river gorges, but this excursion will focus on the Xiling Gorge, the eastern part of the Yangtze Gorges (the eastern Yangtze Gorges region).
