New TiO2 pigment or other white/transparent filler developments with additional functionality through DuPont's advanced Customizer Technology

DuPont has developed a new technology which leads to innovative inorganic white pigments or white/colorless inorganic sub micron particles.The new pigments/particles show additional value not only through their classical opacity and whitening properties,but also through additional functionalities.The feedstock material for customized grades is still produced in global manufacturing sides.The final customized surface treatments are than applied in our new plant in Antwerp.The newest families of products were developed for LLDPE/HDPE polyolefin films and called FT-x,for polycarbonate and it's blend resins called PC-x and for PET/PBT resins called PET-x.FT-x is a TiO2 product combining pigment and polymer processing aid(PPA)properties.The customized particle releases the PPA during film extrusion through a patented release technology.Film extruders can save money by using that combined solution.PC-x is a surface modified TiO2 which prevents polycarbonate resin chains from breaking down.Using DuPont's dense silica technology,the pigments show excellent weatherability for outdoor use.PET-x is a new pigment family addressing condensation polymers'needs.Its surface chemistry supports the polymer resin in keeping its intrinsic viscosity(IV)high.These are the first examples of customized TiO2 particles.Some new offerings will be commercialized in 2005 including developments that deal with easy cleanabilty,antistatic properties and combined HALS systems
