Our research group "5 Axis Thai" sponsored by the NSTDA and NECTEC of Thailand has developed six new methods for optimization of a tool path of the five axis milling machines. Algorithm 1 is based on variational grid generation, Algorithm 2 is based on a new modification of the space filling curve techniques. Algorithm 3 clusters the streamlines of the vector field composed of the optimal cutting directions. Algorithm 4 performs optimal sequencing with regard to a set of feasible rotations. Algorithm 5 presents a least square optimization with regard to a setup of the machine. Algorithm 6 constructs a set of local grids equi distributed in the angular space near the stationary points. The algorithms have been verified by numerical experiments and by practical machining. We show their efficiency as compared with standard techniques.
