In the study, we investigated changes in physical parameters of non-destructive testing (coercive force, eddy current parameter, self-magnetic field intensity and acoustic emission parameters) and characteristic of real damage (S* - relative area of the damaged surface occupied by microcracks) at tension of steel specimens. It was established that the achievement of characteristic stresses-the yield strength and ultimate strength - affect the magnetic and acoustic parameters. The real damage estimation was carried out by studying the microcracks patterns at various stages of deformation of steel specimens. The increase in damage during the tension was characterized by a change in damage parameter S*. Correlation of real damage with change in physical characteristics of nondestructive testing was established.
