Analysis of sand-dust weather characteristic on Qira oasis in southern fringe of Taklimakan desert in recent years

Based on the sand-dust weather data from Qira weather bureau, we analyzed the sand-dust weather condition in 2002-2003 and got the conclusions: The average annual time of sand-dust weather phenomenon in past thirty years of Qira oasis respectively as follow: floating dust time is 146.7 days, wind-blown sand time is 46.9 day and sand storm time is 20.4 days. In 2002, the time of these weather phenomenon is 101 days, 28days and 22days respectively. And in 2003 the time are 115days, 47 days, and 18 days respectively. The sand storm weather mainly occurred during from March to July in the past two year, especially from April to June. In 2002, the cumulating time of sand storm weather was 57.45 hours, there have 9 times of strong sand storm and the cumulating time reached 30 hours, in which, 5 times occurred in April and the cumulating time was 17.5 hours. In 2002 and 2003, the strongest sand storms both occurred in April, there had similar records of these both strongest sand storms and the difference was the duration of 2003 is longer than 2002.
