An Integrated CAPP of Stamping for Automobile Panels

As automobile body panel is one kind of sheet metal parts with groups of free form surfaces, the process planning is more complicated and illegible than common sheet metal stamping, and the CAPP system is more difficult to implode effectively and practically. Based on KBE, new frameworks are presented as Intelligent Master Model in system level and as procedure model in activity level. In accordance with these frameworks, an integrated CAPP system is specifically developed. The process-path is improved based on process information model and relevant reasoning ways. Furthermore, a control-section model is advanced for die addendum design, in which the control sections and addendum sections are especial geometry object with series parameters for each segment that can be edited individually, and a set of knowledge of formability, quality, and flange geometry and die design to control the shape. The die addendum and blank-holder can be created parametrically by free form features based on control sections net. The knowledge carried by sections makes the addendum surfaces all smooth transition from one section to another, from origin draw part to addendum surface. Finally, numerical simulation is applied to check capability and ascertain defects, and the simulation engine provides a programmable mechanism to interpret simulation result. In this stamping CAPP system, the procedure and information are controlled by PCS, and the PCS and LME make process planning associative and integrated.
