This paper deals with the problem of guaranteeing a degraded control performance under actuator faults (integrity), BMI, LMI and other possible solutions are investigated. Also, the switching-on and shutting-down sequence of sensors and actuators in centralised control strategies may be critical to ensure the reliability and continuous stability of the controlled plant. Both problems have a significant practical interest. The control of a typical CSTR plant illustrates the procedure and some conclusions are drafted.
