A digital model of the face was made for 56 Japanese males base on anatomical correspondence. The faces were classified into 4 groups based on morphological distances, and an average model was calculated for each group. Four prototype frames were designed by CAD using the average models, and the tighten force was adjusted using materialized average models with soft material at the nose bridge and the side of the face. The new frames were evaluated by a sensory evaluation and physical measurements for 38 male subjects. It was confirmed that the new frame on the appropriate type of the face had a small tighten force and minimal slip.
