摘要

Thin ceramic components are often manufactured by colloidal processing of ceramic powders. During drying, these thin films can crack, and although descriptions of the stresses in the drying film exist there is no experimental confirmation. The driving force is therefore not well established. This paper presents measurements of the drying stresses in films of alumina dispersion. It is shown that these are consistent with existing fluid flow analyses.
