Beginning in the mid 1990s U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) began the regulatory effort to amend the existing rules to enable the use of emerging leak detection equipment. It was during the 1990's the EPA developed a model using Monte Carlo simulation techniques to compare leak detection work practices. The Agency will brief participants on its progress to propose rule making to allow for image based leak detection.
