The fit of the bra is very important to its customers, but there is little research to validate the bra fitness for purpose. This study is a preliminary investigation into the measurement of pressure, pressure sensation and discomfort caused by the bra. The results produced from this study can give new direction into the design of bras and their fitting. The Medico's MST MK E pressure tester was applied to test the pressure caused by the bra in nine focused areas. A psychophysical method: the Borg CR10 scale was employed to measure the wearer's sensations of pressure, discomfort and pain in the 9 areas. Then, the relationships between pressure and sensation were discussed. The Borg CR10 scale can be applied quickly and easily to this methodology. The results can provide some useful information on bra fitting issues, and could possibly be used to improve bra design and commercial fitting.
