SPACE GENERATION: ENGAGING THE NEXT GENERATION IN THE ASIA-PACIFIC AND SOUTH AMERICAN REGIONS

The Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) in conjunction with the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UN COPUOS) aims to stimulate the next generation of space professionals and academics in developing space economies. Through the execution of regional workshops, SGAC has promoted collaboration in the space sector between agencies, professionals, students, and young professionals. At regional workshops, attendees discuss and collaborate on issues which are pertinent to stimulating and expanding the space industry in their communities. Topics covered regional agency establishment, economic benefits of a strong space industry, education, outreach, technologies, and logistics of future missions. By hosting and promoting the charter workshops in the Asia-Pacific and South American regions in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF) and the 8~(th) Argentine Congress of Space Technology (CATE), SGAC has been able to stimulate the young generation on regional space issues, expand the professional and student network of SGAC in developing space economies, and provide visibility of SGAC work to regional space professionals and agencies. The success of these initial programs has launched a campaign for future regional workshops to continue to grow and stimulate a developing space community and industry around the world.
