Development of new aerial distribution optical cables for rural aria economical FTTH network

In order to construct the FTTH networks at rural area economically and efficiently, reduction of cable cost and installation cost are demanded. Therefore, we developed two types of new aerial distribution optical cables which have 24 fibers and 8 fibers respectively. These new aerial distribution optical cables have following features by using Spider Web Ribbon (SWR) [1] and optimizing the cable structure. (1) Small diameter and light weight. (2) Simple and easy mid span access operation. (3) Easy installation and cable connection
