Tight-Buffer Drop Cable for FTTH Deployments

摘要

The focus of this paper is the development of an optimized tight-buffer cable for FTTH access networks. The optimized and simple structure is advantageous for a cost-effective deployment for underground in-ducts or indoor /outdoor installed vertically from outside the building. The developed tight-buffer double-jacket drop cable is composed of polyamide-coated 900um bend-insensitive dual-layer buffered fiber, and the cable outside diameter is 5.5mm. The outside sheath of the cable is a flame-retardant, UV resistant resin. This paper summarizes the mechanical and environmental performance and result of field deployments.
