Efficacy of hCG at Inducing Ovulation: A New Look at an Old Issue

Repeated use of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) during a given breeding season is associated with a decrease in efficacy at inducing a timed ovulation. Efficacy of hCG at inducing a timed ovulation also declines significantly with mare age. It is recommended that hCG not be used more than once or twice during a breeding season.
