The presence of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in the environment poses long-term risk to public health and wildlife due to their persistent and toxic nature [1]. Owning to their low water solubility and lipophilicity, PCBs tend to bioaccumulate in aquatic organisms. Dredging and land-filling are most commonly used for remediation of PCBs contaminated sediments [2]. EPA estimated that 525 million tones of PCB wastes exist which will cost $131-$263 billion to be land filled or incinerated as most other treatment processes have not been very effective to treat such sites [2].
