摘要

Particles produced by spray freezing into liquid (SFL) and evaporative precipitation into aqueous solution (EPAS) technologies were evaluated based on crystalline character, thermal properties, dissolution and morphology. Also, the powders produced by these technologies were evaluated for the formation of a solid solution vs. a solid dispersion using novel scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) techniques. It is hypothesized that the SFL process creates particles at a rate sufficient to create a solid solution of drug within a polymer matrix, whereas EPAS results in nucleation and growth to form nanostructured particles.
