An oligodeoxynucleotide conjugated to lactosylated poly(ethylene glycol) through an acid-labile linkage (Lac-PEG-ODN) was successfully synthesized to form PIC micelles with poly(L-lysine) (PLL). The Lac-PEG-ODN/PLL PIC micelles exhibited highly antisense activity (about 65% inhibition) due to the increase in the cellular uptake and release of free ODN into cytosol.
