PURPOSE: A dextran/methoxypolyethylene glycol block copolymer is provided to provide a pH-responsive controlled release drug support which can form membranes on a stent and can be used as a drug-carrying polymer having high curing effectiveness. CONSTITUTION: A dextran/methoxypolyethylene glycol block copolymer comprises a histidine-dextran-polyethylene glycol block copolymer prepared by covalent bonding histidine to a dextran/methoxypolyethylene glycol block copolymer, which is prepared by a block copolymerization of polyethylene glycol and dextran. The histidine-dextrane-polyethylene glycol block copolymer is prepared by converting the terminal dextran to a reducing end group, introducing an amine group, forming a dextran-polyethylene glycol block copolymer by block-copolymerizing polyethylene glycol to an amine group, and adding N-acetyl-L-histidine to covalently-bonded histidine.
