The main interest for the customer is the lightweighting obtained with an acceptable overcost with respect to the other materials usually used (steel aluminum...) for ears external body parts. Now this interest is confirmed by the new environmental regulations (Euro 4 and 6 standards). Two major technical difficulties were solved to develop this product: The development of a polymer with simultaneously, a good heat resistance to withstand the paint backing process (up to 200 deg C), a good ductility at low temperature to allow a process by deep drawing and a good impact resistance, and bonding properties to obtain a cohesive sandwich.
